Polish Genealogical Society of Michigan c/o Burton Historical Collection Detroit Public Library 5201 Woodward Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48202 Benefits of Membership MEETINGS are generally held on the third Saturday of the month, September through June, at 2:00 pm in various locations. A GENEALOGICAL SEMINAR is held annually and generally features a nationally know speaker. All meetings are open to the general public. GENEALOGICAL ASSISTANCE is available 1/2 hour before meetings that are held in the Explorer's Room of the Detroit Public Library. Searches of the SURNAME INDEX to our collection of ancestor charts are a member's opportunity to find others researching the same surnames. Currently, this index contains nearly 2,500 names. Members have the opportunity to enter their Polish surnames in a POLONIAN REGISTRY database. Searches are made. Both parties are notified. Currently, this database contains over 5,000 names. TIMELY INFORMATION on statewide and national genealogical activities is provided through the Society's membership in the Michigan Genealogical Council, and in the Federation of Genealogical Societies.
